Questions to talk about
Word for word
Mark: Can I ask you something? If someone's drifted from God for a long time, would he even want them back?
Sarah: I've been thinking about you a lot, and if you've wondered the same thing, this is for you. There's a moment in Luke 19 where Jesus is at a man's house, and he says why he came. Listen.
Scripture: For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost.
Mark: I only ever knew a little of the story around this. I never learned who the man was or what was happening at his house, and I'd love to hear it.
Sarah: His name was Zacchaeus. He hurried down and welcomed Jesus joyfully, while the crowd muttered that Jesus was staying with a sinner. Jesus said salvation had come to that house, today.
Mark: Everybody wrote that man off, but Jesus didn't. I know that feeling, because I felt written off too, and I never thought I had anything to offer him.
Sarah: Here's what gets me. Zacchaeus talked about giving to the poor and making things right, but that came after Jesus was already at his house. I fall short too, and I'm only here by grace.
Mark: I wish I'd known sooner that I didn't have to clean myself up first. That's a relief, honestly. Anyone could just talk to him.
Sarah: You could, just like that. Say, God, I want to know you. I love you, and I want you with me for good. Carry this today: you're wanted. And my door's always open. Follow along for more.
