Mark: Honestly, I think I've messed up too much. I don't think God would even want me back.

Sarah: I've felt that too. There's a story in Luke about a son who hit bottom, hungry, wishing he could eat what the pigs ate. Listen to this.

Scripture: He arose, and came to his father. But while he was still far off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

Mark: So he heads home. He'd planned a whole speech, right? I'd be bracing for his dad to be furious.

Sarah: He had. He figured being a hired servant was the best he could hope for. But look what the father does in this verse, before the son says a single word.

Mark: Okay, but that's a story. I've got nothing to offer God. How does any of that happen for me?

Sarah: You don't have to earn it. Jesus died for our sins and rose again, and we receive forgiveness by trusting him, not by being good enough. I was lost too, Mark. I'm only here by grace.

Mark: So the father in that story, he even throws a party? For a son who thought he'd lost his place?

Sarah: He does, because his son was lost and is found. Try telling God honestly, I want to know you. I love you, and I want you with me forever. The door's open.
